Minimum qualifications include High School graduate or GED, possess valid Minnesota State Driver's License, no felony convictions and pass a psychological examination, physical examination; physical agility test. Must be 18 years of age. This is a paid on call position.

The City provides its residents and businesses a full range of municipal services related to public safety (police and fire), public works, parks and recreation, development, and administrative services.  The City operates an ice arena, golf course, and library. These services are provided by quality staff, including 87 full-time and part-time employees, 30 paid-on-call (volunteer) firefighters and 138 seasonal and temporary workers (mostly in recreational programs).

Hospital Security Officer:

The City of Grand Rapids Police Department is accepting applications for Hospital Security Officer. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree in police/criminal or related field and/or relevant experience. General knowledge of principles/practices of security work. Adaptability, emotional maturity, objectivity, skill dealing with people and a valid Minnesota driver’s license. Desired qualifications includes relevant work experience and ability to deal courteously, tactfully and diplomatically with people in difficult emergency or medical situations and at all levels. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of background investigation, and successful completion of departments’ field training program, physical fitness test and City Council approval. Salary is $15.15-$19.68 per hour.
