The City provides its residents and businesses a full range of municipal services related to public safety (police and fire), public works, parks and recreation, development, and administrative services.  The City operates an ice arena, golf course, and library. These services are provided by quality staff, including 90 full-time and part-time employees, 30 paid-on-call (volunteer) firefighters and 80 seasonal and temporary workers (mostly in recreational programs).

Firefighter

Minimum qualifications include High School graduate or GED, possess valid Minnesota State Driver's License, no felony convictions and pass a psychological examination, physical examination; physical agility test. Must be 18 years of age. This is a paid on call position.
 
Requirements include good physical health and a sound moral character, prepared to fill a position of responsibility and trust.

The City of Grand Rapids is accepting applications for part-time Hospital Security Officers. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and general knowledge of principles/practices of security work and a valid Minnesota driver’s license. Desired qualifications are relevant work experience, and ability to deal courteously, tactfully and diplomatically with people in difficult emergency or medical situation and at all levels.

Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of background investigation, successful completion of medical exam, psychological exam, and drug test.

The City of Grand Rapids is establishing an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, completed two years of post secondary education in law enforcement or related field, possession of a Minnesota POST Board License or eligible at time of appointment or licensed by another state and eligible for reciprocity through the MN P.O.S.T. and a valid driver’s license. Special consideration for past experience and/or 4 year degree or higher.
 
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of background investigation, recruitment testing instruments, physical and psychological examinations and City Council approval.
