Community Compost Pile

A public compost site for yard waste, including grass clippings and leaves (no branches or garbage accepted), is available to all residents. The site is located on the north side of River Road, approximately 450 feet east of the intersection of 8th Street SE and River Road (County Road 23). The address is 1875 River Road, Grand Rapids, MN.  The composted material is turned twice a year, and once it becomes decayed, it is available to the public. Composted yard waste recycles nutrients back into the soil and saves landfill waste.  This compost site is strictly for residential use and not commercial.  The public compost site is a joint partnership between the City of Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids Public Utilities Commission, and Itasca County.
